Infrastructure Delivery
Hartecs Group has been engaged by The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) Mackay Whitsunday District (MWD) to undertake Contract Administration and Verification (CAV) services for the Hamilton Plains Flood Immunity Upgrade Project from March 2025 until February 2027.
The Hamilton Plains Flood Immunity Upgrade project requires raising the existing Proserpine – Shute Harbour Road alignment (Ch 0.06-1.295km) to meet the desired current probability standards and climate change flood immunity levels to the road shoulder, resulting in a reduced flood submergence on the road of less than two hours.
Key features of the project include:
- Reconstruction of approximately 1.2 km two lane, two-way section of Proserpine – Shute Harbour
- Road from the Bruce Highway to south of the Strathdickie Road intersection
- Raise the level of the road and strengthens its surface to improve flood resilience
- Install larger culverts to improve flood capacity
- Widen the road to allow for wide centre line treatment and wider shoulders
- Improved table drains to better facilitate drainage messaging is clear, concise, and directly relevant to everyday concerns.
