Cassowary Coast Regional Council was seeking qualified transport planning consultants to supply the development of a Walking Network Plan (WNP) for the township of Cardwell, funded through the Queensland Government’s Walking Local Government Grants (WLGG) Program.
The WNP will adopt a precinct- based approach cnetred on the Cardwell Transit Centre on Brasenose Street, with a 2.5km buffer to capture the full township, including Port Hinchinbrook. Hartecs will apply the methodology as outlined on the Department of Transport and Main Roads website to deliver:
* a walking network plan showing preferred walking routes based on data and stakeholder engagement
* an action program that accompanies the walking network plan and is an agreed approach for implementation
* a project report summarising the data, engagement findings, overall process and endorsement.
The WNP and Action Program will be used to guide spending on walking infrastructure projects over the next 20 years, which will reflect community needs and current transport planning best practice.
