Hartecs was engaged to design a new entry and heavy vehicle turnaround facility at the JBS Abattoir, Nerimbera. The existing livestock access was outdated and no longer met operational requirements. We delivered a coordinated civil and drainage design to support Operational Works (OPW) approval, ensuring the facility meets current and future demands
Works included:
Planning & Assessment
The initial scope included:
– Preparation of a Stormwater Management Plan (SWMP)
– Heavy vehicle turn path assessment to ensure compliance with operational requirements
– Preliminary bulk earthworks (BEW) grading strategy
The SWMP confirmed:
– Existing and ultimate catchment extents
– Current and proposed legal points of discharge
– Capacity and suitability of the existing culvert infrastructure
– Design of a culvert extension beneath St Christophers Chapel Road to accommodate proposed discharge volumes
Detailed Design & Approvals
Upon agreement of the grading and stormwater strategy, the project progressed into detailed design to deliver a construction-ready package suitable for Council OPW approval. This included:
– Bulk Earthworks modelling and design (12D)
– Detailed stormwater assessment and infrastructure design
– RPEQ-certified retaining wall design
– Pavement design for heavy vehicle loading
