South Rockhampton STP Effluent Pumping Facility
Engineering Services

Hartecs Group was engaged to support the development and delivery of upgrades to the South Rockhampton Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) Effluent Pumping Facility.

During the design and documentation phase, Hartecs Group worked closely with Rockhampton Regional Council (through its commercial water business, Fitzroy River Water) to ensure the infrastructure design aligned with council’s strategic sustainability goals. Hartecs’ multidisciplinary team developed detailed plans for the effluent pump station, pipelines, and control systems, emphasizing energy efficiency and operational reliability.

The design incorporated provisions for future expansion and strict environmental compliance, positioning the Council to meet new permit obligations to maximize effluent reuse and limit nutrient release. Throughout the project, Hartecs collaborated with Council engineers and state authorities, reflecting a strong public-private partnership. This collaboration was recognized by Council leaders as an important step toward better environmental outcomes for the region’s water infrastructure.

The project has been delivered in partnership with Rockhampton Regional Council, and stands as a showcase of how innovative engineering can provide sustainable water solutions for the community. By designing this effluent reuse facility, Hartecs Group has helped the Council create a long-term asset that protects the environment, supports regional growth, and delivers cost-effective benefits to local stakeholders
